My friend
I have a friend and her name is Rachel. She was from another school before she came to Hai Sing Catholic School, my secondary school. She had short hair, which was different from most of us, the students in Hai Sing, as the girls here had long hair. She had almond-shaped eyes and single eyelids. Her eyes were the color of brown. She wore her uniform tidily and kept her hair in place. She never came to school unprepared. She would make sure she read all the topics that the teacher had wanted to go through the nest day and she would bring all her books and hand in her homework on time. She had a memory like an elephant.
When she first came to my class, everyone ignored her. She was a very shy person. However, she is very helpful. I knew that when an incident happened to me in school.
I had problems doing my mathematics homework and I stayed back in school to complete it as I did not wanted to do it at home as I would be distracted. I was sitting at the wooden bench at the canteen. As usual, the canteen was almost empty at this time. Everyone had gone to attend their CCAs and I was sitting alone in the canteen. I was figuring my mathematics question when I saw her coming towards my direction. I smiled at her and she responded by smiling back. She walked past me and saw me doing my mathematics problem with difficulty. After a few seconds, she stopped and asked if I needed her help. Since I could not figure the question out, I though that it would not harm me if I ask for her help, which was what I did.
‘I need help on this question’, I said softly. She then sat down beside me and looked at the question. She figured the question so fast it was as though she was doing primary school mathematics. I always had problems with my mathematics and looking at how she solves the question amazed me. She then explained the steps to solve the question, making sure that I understand.
After that incident, whenever I am faced with a difficult mathematics question, I would ask for her help. She never fails to help me with it. After spending time with her, I realize that she was not only helpful but kind and friendly as well. We would often hang out together when we had the time, usually watching movies. She soon became my best friend. I treasure her and I am grateful towards her for helping me.
